oDesk is now apparently called Upwork

World largest marketplace oDesk, is now apparently called Upwork. I have described about odesk but in future I will talk about Upwork. Formerly oDesk has changed their few marketing policy. They placed the name as upwork in the place of oDesk.

Here’s the official announcement from Stephane Kasriel, the new CEO of Upwork:
“I’m thrilled to announce that we have relaunched oDesk as Upwork. Upwork is a new name, and also a new platform for connecting businesses with talented professionals, faster and more easily than ever before. And, in the coming months, we will focus on four areas of innovation:

• Faster hiring. To accelerate hiring, we’re making it easier for freelancers to update their availability and for businesses to find, interview and select freelancers who are ready to work right away.

• Better collaboration. We’re making work simpler and more productive. A new messaging experience will include chat and video, plug into your favorite services, and organize conversations into chat rooms. Plus, you’ll be able to communicate with your teams through native Android and iPhone apps.

• Larger teams. Shared team workspaces will make it easier for multiple freelancers and clients to collaborate. Businesses can create and engage large freelance teams quickly, safely, and in compliance with Upwork Enterprise.

• Professional growth. Upwork will be a platform where independent professionals can thrive. With access to work history stats, the ability to earn Top Rated status, and information on high-demand skills, freelancers will have the tools to get more and better jobs.

আপনার ই-মেইলে প্রবেশ করে উক্ত মেইল লিঙ্কে ক্লিক করুন। ফলে নিচের চিত্রের মত একটি পেইজ দেখতে পাবেন।

চিত্রে দেখানো লাল চিহ্নিত বাটনে ক্লিক করুন। ফলে আপনার ই-মেইল Verification সম্পন্ন হবে। নিম্নরূপ একটি পেইজ দেখতে পাবেন।

আপনি যদি ওডেস্কে কাজ করতে চান, আপনাকে ইংরেজী জানতে হবে। তবে ইংরেজীতে সাহিত্য রচনা করার মত পন্ডিত আপনাকে হতে হবে না। মোটামুটি ইংরেজী বলার মত এবং বুঝার মত জানলেই হবে। আপনি যদি বায়ারের রিকোয়ারমেন্ট বুঝার মত এবং বায়ারের সাথে চ্যাটিং করার মত ইংরেজী জানেন, তাহলেই হবে। ওডেস্কে কাজ করার জন্য যে কোন একটি বা একাধিক বিষয়ে আপনাকে দক্ষ হতে হবে। আপনার যদি কোন বিষয়ে দক্ষতা না থাকে তাহলে আজই শুরু করে দিন। আপনি ওডেস্ক ওয়েবসাইটে কিছুদিন ঘাটাঘাটি করলে নিজেই বুঝতে পারবেন এতে কি ধরণের কাজ পাওয়া যায়। তারপরও আপনাদের সুবিধার্থে নিচে একটি স্ক্রীনশট দেওয়া হল। সেখান থেকে বেছে নিতে পারেন আপনার পছন্দের কাজটি।

সে সব কাজ সমূহ হতে আপনি ভাল করে দেখে নিন কোন কাজটি আপনার ভাল লাগে। আপনার পছন্দের কাজটি বাছাই করার পর এবার শেখার কাজে নেমে পড়ুন। কাজ শেখার জন্য অনলাইনে অনেক রিসোর্স পাবেন। সেখান থেকে ভাল করে দেখে কোন একটি বিষয়কে বেছে নিয়ে ভাল করে অনুশীলন করতে থাকুন। কাজ শিখতে গিয়ে যে অভিজ্ঞতা সমূহ অর্জিত হবে অর্থাৎ অভিজ্ঞতা সরূপ আপনার কম্পিউটারে ফাইলগুলো জমা হবে সেগুলো পোর্টপোলিওর জন্য রেখে দিন। এভাবেই কাজ করতে থাকুন এবং শিখতে থাকুন। এভাবে করতে থাকলে আশা করা যায় ২/৩ মাসের মধ্যে আপনি দক্ষতা অর্জন করতে পারবেন। তবে সেটি নির্ভর করবে কাজে আপনার মনোযোগিতার উপর। 

কাজ শেখার পর এবার আসবে ওডেস্কে একাউন্ট খোলার পালা। একাউন্ট খোলার পর আপনার কাজ হবে প্রোফাইলকে ১০০% সম্পন্ন করা। প্রোফাইল ১০০% সম্পন্ন করার পর আপনি কাজে আবেদন করার উপযুক্ত হবেন। আপাতত কাজে আবেদন না করে কিছুদিন কাজ গুলোতে বায়ার কি কি বিষয় চেয়েছে তা ভালভাবে বুঝে  রপ্ত করতে থাকুন। কাজগুলো দেখে সেগুলো নিজে করতে পারবেন কিনা বুঝতে থাকুন। প্রয়োজনে সেগুলো নিজে সম্পন্ন করে নমুন কাজ হিসাবে সংরক্ষণ করুন যাতে ঐ ধরণের কাজে বিড বা আবেদন করার সময় বায়ারকে উপস্থাপন করতে পারেন। 

ওডেস্কে কিভাবে একাউন্ট খুলবেন, কিভাবে প্রোফাইলকে ১০০% সাজাবেন, কিভাবে পোর্টপোলিও যোগ করবেন, কিভাবে কাজে আবেদন বা বিড করবেন, কিভাবে কভার লেটার লিখবেন, কিভাবে কাজের টাকা পাবেন সেসব বিষয়ে পরবর্তী পর্ব গুলোতে ধাপে ধাপে বিস্তারিত বর্ণনা দেওয়া হবে। সে পর্যন্ত সাথে থাকুন।
